Hello Friends,
On behalf of the Committee of the Mumbai Coin Society (MCS), I welcome you to the new and improved website of the MCS.
This website is launched to coincide the 18th Annual Coin and Banknote Fair at the prestigious World Trade Center, Mumbai. This year's event is a landmark for us, as we host it, keeping safety and security our top priorities in these difficult times of the pandemic. We encourage all our participants, stall holders and guests to follow all SOPs and follow the mask mandate and physical distancing. We request all to being fully vaccinated before the event. Look forward to welcoming you all.
From a modest beginning in March 2003 with 11 members, the MCS has grown by leaps and bounds and our efforts are now beginning to bear fruit with our family of collectors and dealers in Indian Numismatics, swell year after year.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new patron members and thank them for their munificence. On behalf of the MCS, with great pleasure, I extend a warm welcome to new Patron Members’: Mr Mr. Rezwan Razack (Jt MD of the Prestige Group, Baanglore), Mr. Vikram Tennan, Mr. Sanjay Gosalia (Bombay Coins and Stamps Library)
As of 20th September 2011, the MCS has 435 life members on its rolls and assets in excess of Rs 10 lakhs. However, our greatest is the unstinting support of each of our members’, for this, I on behalf of the MCS Committee thank each one of you. Tough it is not possible to thank each one of you individually or mention your names individually in acknowledgement; I am indeed grateful for your support and expect the same for years to come.
Since I last addressed you there have a number of changes, which I will elucidate below:
In June 2011, Mr. Abdul Razak Sheikh, who functioned as Secretary and Mr. Sudip Kheria who functioned as Jt. Secretary tendered their resignations due to personal reasons, which the Committee subject to conditions unanimously accepted.
The Committee asked Mr. Dinesh Hedge to take over the responsibilities of the Secretary. The post of Jt. Secretary is currently vacant. The Committee co-opted two new committee members: Mr. Amit Ashok Surana and Mr. Kaizad F. Todywalla. Mr. Kishorebhai Jhunjhunwallaji was appointed as Chairman of the Exhibition Committee, unanimously. With a view to security and to boost memberships, the committee has unanimously decided that all stallholders in any event hosted by the MCS will have to be life members.
The committee plans to reinstate and regularize the monthly meetings and invites members to apply as coordinators for these meetings.
Last but not the least I draw your attention to our new and re-vamped website! We have incorporated a number of path breaking new concepts in the website which will be implemented in phases over the course of the next six months. This I am sure will prove to a boon to all members, this is the first time in India, that a website has incorporated stolen, missing and misplaced items in addition to forgeries in the market to make members and the public at large more aware and informed.
An exclusive and secure member’s area has been created for the exclusive use of members that will publish articles and other information for the discerning numismatists. To supplement the cost of making and running this website the MCS has launched a unique online, e-advertisement scheme that will give global exposure to advertisers, and so I invite you to join this program and benefit from it.
Looking to the future, I would like to stress that it is our fervent endeavour to promote the hobby and enrich society. We are also working towards extending the scope of the hobby by seeking active participation from premier institutions like the RBI, Indian Posts, Museums and other institutions to preserve our vast Monetary history and culture.
To that end, I invite each one of you to participate and partake in all activities and to share your valuable comments and feedback with us.
Best regards,
